The Norwegian historian, Ludvig Daae (1834-1910) called St.. Olav Cathedral without comparison, the «prettiest church building» in Christiania.
Over the years, the church interior has been changed several times . This spring the work will start to make the church even more beautiful. Initially, the church will be painted and new tiles will replace the old ones in the altar. In addition, the paintings of the Virgin Mary, the Transfiguration and the painting depicting Jesus as the good Shepherd will be restored.
The painting of the Transfiguration after the repair, will be donated to St. Johannes kirke at Bredtvet.
In this connection, St. Olav Church will be closed from the 7th of April to the 15th of June. Thanks to the great benevolence of the «Trefoldighetskirken» we will be able to accommodate the Sunday masses in a satisfactory manner. Daily masses will be celebrated mainly at St. Joseph church, but masses may also be celebrated in the church hall. This includes also Saturday masses.
The economy of the project will be presented on a later date.
Donations for the project will be greatly appreciated. Please mark your donation for «Oppussing» to account nr. 1503.03.38917
